Sculptra® Butt Lift vs. Brazilian Butt Lift: How Do You Choose?
Beauty ideals have shifted over the past five years. Today, the gaunt, thin look is giving away to courageous curves.
Part of this look is the shapely, rounded backside. While exercises like squats can help create a more defined butt, they can only go so far if you are looking to have the dramatic hourglass silhouette popularized by curvaceous celebrities like Cardi B and Kim Kardashian.
While the Brazilian butt lift procedure has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years, it isn’t the answer for everyone. For one thing, achieving successful results with this surgery requires enough body fat to transplant from a “donor” area into the buttocks. Naturally slim people don’t have the donor fat to beef up that bootie.
If you are naturally slim, that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck when it comes to getting a butt lift. A different, non-surgical option called a Sculptra® butt lift can provide some backside enhancement without requiring any of your body fat.
What Is a Sculptra® Butt Lift?
Sculptra® is a filler that was originally developed to minimize wrinkles and add facial volume in areas where it is lacking, such as the cheeks and temples. Sculptra® works by kickstarting your body’s natural production of collagen – a protein that provides structural support to your skin. When Dr. Stephan injects Sculptra® into targeted areas of your backside, it provides the same volumizing results.
A Sculptra® butt lift is an in-office procedure that typically takes as little as 30 minutes to perform. If you wish to have more dramatically defined curves, you may need more than one treatment session. The results develop gradually because Sculptra® takes a few weeks to begin producing collagen and plumping the area.
What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The most significant difference between a Sculptra® butt lift and a Brazilian butt lift is that the Brazilian butt lift is surgical. It is a two-part procedure: During the first part of the treatment, Dr. Stephan performs power-assisted liposuction to harvest donor fat from an area of the body – usually the thighs, stomach, or hips. Having removed the fat cells, Dr. Stephan then purifies them to prepare them for injection into your buttocks. The entire process typically takes three to four hours, depending on the volume of fat removed and how much augmentation you want to achieve.
Deciding Which Procedure Is Right for You
A few factors may make you choose a Brazilian butt lift over a Sculptra® butt lift. One advantage of a Brazilian butt lift is the improved contouring for your entire lower body, not just your buttocks area. Liposuction of the donor fat cells will tone a targeted area of your body
Consider, too, that the size you’re aiming for may play into your Brazilian v. Sculptra® decision. If you are looking for more dramatic results, you may wish to opt for a Brazilian butt lift instead of Sculptra®, since Dr. Schmidt can add a significant amount of harvested donor fat to the buttocks. Sculptra® typically provides a more subtle result.
Your lifestyle also factors into helping you decide whether a Brazilian butt lift or Sculptra® is right for you. Aa Brazilian butt lift involves up to two weeks of recovery time. You’ll also need to avoid putting weight on your buttocks, so you will have to be careful about how often and how long you sit. These two issues could interfere with your work circumstances. Finally, no back sleeping allowed during your recovery: stomach- or side-sleeping only for about two weeks.
In contrast, the Sculptra® butt lift involves a much shorter recovery. Most return to work and other activities the next day. They sleep on their backs freely and sit as much as they need. Dr. Stephan recommends massaging the buttocks region multiple times a day for about five days after each series of injections. This practice minimizes bumpiness and results in a smooth skin surface.
